JAEN, Nueva Ecija – A construction worker was killed in a daytime gun attack hours after two alleged drug pushers were arrested in successive anti-drug operations here Thursday, police reported.
Major Baltazar Corpuz, town police chief, identified the fatality as Allen Guera, 35, resident of Barangay Sapang this municipality.
Corpuz said Guera was gunned down by still unidentified suspects shortly before 4 p.m. in the same village.
The attack on Guera who is reportedly living–in with a woman surnamed Velarde occurred after a certain Edmon Nomer Galang y Velarde, 41, businessman from Barangay Dampulan here was arrested in a buy–bust operation at about 1 p.m.
Galang yielded three sachets of suspected shabu, police said.
This was followed by another buy–bust at about 2:30 p.m. that led to the arrest of 33-year-old welder Jayson Galang, also resident of Barangay Dampulan.
Corpuz said Galang yielded three sachets of shabu with estimated value of P30,000 and the three P1000 marked money.
Charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Law were levelled against the arrested suspects.
