Covid-19 in ‘Gapo: OFW, Subic worker up cases to 82

OLONGAPO CITY — An overseas Filipino worker and worker at a company inside Subic Bay Freeport Zone were the latest confirmed cases of Covid-19 here raising the total to 82 as of August 16.

City inter-agency task force chairman Mayor Rolen Paulino, Jr. said active Covid cases now stand at 48.


Patient number 81 is a male from Barangay Sta. Rita who is presently asymptomatic and no known history of travel. He is working in a private company inside the Subic freeport and was exposed to two of his co-workers from their Manila branch who had fever, coughs and colds last August 8. These co-workers were brought to Manila for RT-PCR test and they both turned out positive for Covid-19.

The patient was advised to have home quarantine after being exposed and was reported to the barangay health emergency response team of Sta Rita for monitoring. He underwent RT-PCR tests in a private hospital in the city on August 14, with the result coming out positive for Covid.

Patient number 82 is a 41yearold OFW from Barangay New Ilalim who subjected himself to RT-PCR test in Manila last August 12, with his result coming out positive. He is staying in Manila and presently asymptomatic and in stable condition. 

On the brighter side, Paulino reported that six recoveries were logged on Sunday with the patients finishing their strict quarantine in an isolation facility.
