Gov. Albert Garcia inspects an office at the old Capitol that was turned into a temporary hospital for non-Covid patients
BALANGA CITY — The provincial health office here announced that there were no new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease in Bataan for the past three days from Wednesday to Friday, while two were added to the number of recoveries.
Gov. Albert Garcia said that based on the PHO report, the number of confirmed Covid–19 cases remained at 107 while the number of those who recovered from thevirus rose to 24. There were still five deaths.
The newly-recovered were both health workers, 31-year–old and 33-year–old females, from Balanga City.
While the number of confirmed cases and deaths has not moved for three days, those who tested negative of the virus increased with 137 on Wednesday, 16 on Thursday, and 16 this Friday.
From 2,156 who have undertaken laboratory exam for Covid since January 31, the governor said, 1,493 were found negative while 556 are waiting for the result of the test.
Meanwhile, the governor said that renovations are being rushed at the old Bataan Capitol that will be used as temporary annex of the Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for non-Covid patients.
A total of 98 hospital beds and 11 air-conditioning units are to be installed at the former seat of the provincial government.
Garcia said that it will also have operating and delivery rooms. “Layon ng hakbang na ito na masiguro na hindi natin mapapabayaan ang mga nangangailangan ng serbisyong medikal na hindi dahil sa Covid–19,” he said.
BGHMC was turned into an exclusive facility for patients infected with the deadly virus.
