BALANGA CITY — The provincial health office reported Saturday that Bataan on Friday listed seven additional casualties from the coronavirus disease raising the total deaths to 208, and registering 126 new infections that brought the number of those who tested positive to 6,493 with 1,128 active cases.
The latest PHO report also showed that those who have recovered reached 5,157 after logging 77 new recoveries.
The new fatalities were: 72-year–old female and 50-year–old male from Balanga City, 76-year–old male from Samal, 65-year–old male from Orion, 81-year-old female from Limay, 63-year–old male from Morong, and 63-year–old male from Abucay.
Hermosa has the highest number of new confirmed cases with 25, followed by Mariveles, 24; Dinalupihan, 22; Balanga City, 14; Limay, 11; Orion, 8; Pilar, 6; Abucay, 5; Samal, 4; Bagac, 3; Orani, 3; and Morong, 1.
The new recoveries were from Orani, 27; Balanga City, 15; Mariveles, 10; Dinalupihan, 7; Abucay, 5; Morong, 5; Samal, 3; Pilar, 2; Limay, 2; and Orion, 1.
Vaccinated with the first dose were 15,084 medical and non-medical frontliners and senior citizens. Inoculation for the second dose of Sinovac is going on for medical frontliners while the first jab for senior citizens continued.
Acknowledging the surge in new cases and deaths, Gov. Albert Garcia reminded his constituents to be more extra careful and to strictly follow safety protocols.
“Habang patuloy ang ating gawaing pagbabakuna kontra-Covid-19, nakalulungkot na ibalita na dumarami pa rin ang bilang ng nagpopositibo sa ating Lalawigan gayundin ang bilang ng namamatay sa nakakahawang sakit na ito,” Garcia said.
He said that hospitals in Bataan were almost filled and there were cases that patients have to be brought to hospitals outside the province.
“Ang pangyayaring ito ay bunsod ng surge na kasalukuyang nararanasan sa Metro Manila at iba’t ibang panig ng bansa dala na rin ng mga hinihinalang bagong variant ng Covid-19 na natutuklasan at patuloy na pinag-aaralan,” the governor said.
“Patuloy po ang pagtaas ng bilang ng mga kaso ng Covid sa Bataan kung kaya’t paulit-ulit ko pong pinapaalalahanan ang lahat na huwag maging kampante upang masiguro ang kaligtasan ng ating mga pamilyang uuwian,” Garcia reminded the public.
