Cops zero in on illegal gambling

    CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Pampanga police said yesterday they have intensifi ed the campaign against “all forms of gambling” and reported the arrest of five persons allegedly engaged in the so-called “drop ball” and video karera.

    Provincial police chief Senior Supt. Oscar Albayalde said that in Arayat over the weekend, local cops headed by Supt. Charlie Crabadilla arrested Danilo Ignacio of Baliuag , Bulacan and Rodel Manican of Talavera, Nueva Ecija for allegedly operating a new form a gambling called drop ball.

    “Two sets of drop ball paraphernalia owned by Rading Angeles of La Paz, Tarlac and some cash were onfiscated during the raid,” said Albayalde. “Violation of Presidential Decree 1602 on illegal gambling, as amended by Republic Act 8297 has been filed against them,” he added.

    Also in Arayat last Sunday, local cops zeroed in on drop ball operations and arrested one Jayson Simbulan, 29, of Arayat, Jenalyn Valiente, 19, and Mary Jane Garcia, 23, both of Cabiao, Nueva Ecija, who allegedly operated
    the illegal gambling.

    Anti-illegal gambling cases were also filed against them at the prosecutor’s office in San Fernando, Albayalde said. Meanwhile in Mexico town, local policemen responded to reports from local folk that video karera, another form of illegal gambling, was being operated in Barangay San Patricio.

    Mexico police chief Supt. Samuel Sevilla and his men caught the video karera operation. They arrested one Alberto Cordero of Barangay San Pablo and confi scated one unit of video karera.

    “Our anti-illegal gambling operations will continue without let up because there are indications that these forms of gambling attract particularly the youths,” Albayalde also said
