CABANATUAN CITY – Police officials are encouraged to undergo swab tests before returning to their respective families as a measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus disease, a ranking police official said here Monday.
This, as Police Regional Office 3 director Brig. Gen. Valeriano de De Leon lauded a police personnel who voluntarily submitted himself to swabbing before going home a few days ago.
“Nagpa-swab, nag-positive siya,” Valeriano said of the policeman whose identity was undisclosed. “Imagine the good thing that he did. Hindi niya na-contaminate young pamilya niya.”
“Pag na-contaminate mo yung pamilya mo, sabay-sabay kayo sa quarantine facliity. Who will take care of your children? Who will take care of your house?” headded.
De Leon talked to 11 former members of the New People’s Army who surrendered to combined police and military forces in different places in Nueva Ecija on Monday. He was joined byh Nueva Ecija police director Col. Marvin Joe Saro, Philippine Army’s 703rdBrigade commander Col. Andrew Costelo and provincial administrator Atty. Alejandro Abesamis.
Valeriano said they have built a quarantine facility out of a container van with a comfort room where theinfected cop is being housed. “So that he cannot unnecessarily contaminate his colleagues and members of his family,” he said.
“Kami, as much as practicable, bago kami umuwi sa aming pamilya ay nagpapa-swab test,” de Leon said.
Meanwhile, de Leon expressed regret over the involvement of some policemen in illegal activities such as illegal drugs operation. “Kaming mga commanders, hindi nagkukulang kaya lang that is their own choice,” he rued.
On Friday, four members of the Olongapo City police were arrested during a raid at a clandestine shabu laboratory in Subic Bay Freeport.
They were identified as Lt. Reynato Basa, Jr.; Corporals Gino dela Cruz, Edesyr Victor Alipio, and Godfrey Duclayan.
Some 300 grams of suspected shabu and equipment in manufacturing the substance, were seized during the operation.
De Leon said the suspects, who are now under the custody of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency face the preliminary investigation that was set on January 22. “From there, malalaman natin kung ano ang ire-resolve ng ating piskalya whether to file the necessary charges in court,” he said.
