TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija – Police arrested a 53-year-old man who allegedly went berserk inside the police station here in an attempt to force authorities free his companion Friday night.

Senior Supt. Ricardo Marquez, director of the Nueva Ecija police office, said that Renato Michado, a resident of Barangay Bagong Sikat was arrested by deputy station chief, Police Insp. Rolando Salonga for carrying an unlicensed .45 cal. pistol and live bullets right at the police station.

Marquez said that Michado reportedly barged into the police station at around 9:40 p.m. Friday and confronted lawmen who had earlier arrested his companions CelinoPadiernos, 55, and Marcos Aquino, 36, of Barangay Sibul here, reportedly close-in security escorts of reelected Vice Mayor Vince de Leon.

Responding policemen recovered from Padiernos an unlicensed caliber 45.

Padiernos and Aquino were allegedly connected with the National Bureau of Investigation Nueva Ecija Field Office.

Police Supt. Renato David, Talavera police chief, said shortly after bringing the two to the police station, Michado arrived armed with a handgun and pointed a finger at policemen and confronted them for arresting the two suspects.

“Will you have them jailed? I won’t allow that. It’s going to be fatal,” Michado said.

Policemen drew their guns and ordered Michado to drop his gun. However, instead of obeying, the latter scampered at the back of the car parked in front of the police station cocking his gun.

At this point, David whom Michado failed to recognize because he was in civilian clothes, managed to draw near him and grabbed his gun.

Police are set to file charges against Padiernos for violating Republic Act 8294. Michado will face a separate charge of grave threat and direct assault.
