CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — The city police station on Wednesday conducted patrols and inspection at the old and new public markets in the city to ensure that the enhanced community quarantine protocols are strictly observed.
City police director Lt. Col. ieutenant Colonel Paul Y. Gamido led the regular “Oplan Tambuli” and foot patrol to remind and advise market goers of the existing precautionary measures and infection control policy under the ECQ.
Using a mega phone, the police chief encouraged the market vendors and their customers to wear their face masks and observe physical distancing.
They were also asked to present their quarantine pass and were required to wash their hands in the hand washing area provided at the markets’ entrance and exit.
The Philippine National Police does not allow senior citizens, pregnant women, and persons with disabilityto enter the markets to avoid exposure and risk as they are identified as vulnerable to the coronavirus disease.
Gamido appealed to Fernandinos who keep on going out even without justifiable reasons to follow the ECQ protocols to avoid detention and possible fines.
“Nakikiusap ang CSFP police station na sana sumunod na tayo sa ECQ protocols kasi kung continuous ang pag-violate ng mga Fernandino, malamang tuloy-tuloy pa rin na ipapatupad natin ang ECQ at tuloy-tuloy ang paghuhuli natin sa sino mang lumabag sa pinaiiral na ECQ protocols and policies,” he said.
The city police chief also assured the security and welfare of Fernandinos who are at home and at work.
The “Bantay Bayan” in every barangay along with the policemen are doing regular patrols to prevent crimes such as theft and drug peddling; and other illegal activities like gambling and drinking sessions.
“For the week may nahuli tayong apat na illegal drug personalities. Kahapon lang nakahuli tayo ng 21 na lumabag sa Presidential Decree No. 1602 o anti-gambling law. Three days ago, sabungan naman yung sinugod natin,” Gamido added.
To date, the PNP has apprehended a total of 1,326 individuals for violating ECQ protocols in the capital city.
The City Public Order and Safety Coordinating Office headed by Louie Clemente is also working hand-in-hand with the PNP in implementing the ECQ protocols and ensuring peace and order in the community.
