SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija – A police officer who was supervising a checkpoint was gunned down inside the Luyos barangay hall here at around 10:20 p.m. Thursday.
Municipal police chief Ador Depnag identified the victim as MSg. Bert Reyes, married, a resident of Maugat of this municipality.
Depnag said the police officer, who used to be with the local intelligence office, has just been reassigned here after tour of duty in Cabiao town and the provincial police office.
Investigation disclosed the victim was working inside the village hall “performing his duty when an unidentified malefactor came and suddenly shot the victim on the head.“
Report said a village official and a local peacekeeper were inside the hall when the attack occurred.
A special investigation task force was created to look into the incident, Depnad said.
