CABANATUAN CITY –– A young police officer was gunned down by an unidentified gunman along a section of the busy Maharlika Highway in Sanitan West here at about 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
The fatality was identified as Staff Sgt. Mark Levy Palilio, 31, married, and resident of Barangay Daan Sarile, this city.
He was detailed at the San Leonardo police station, an investigation report showed.
“The victim who sustained gunshot wounds in different parts of his body was brought to Good Samaritan Medical Center, but eventually died while undergoing medical treatment,” the report said.
Investigation showed the victim was about to alight from an unspecified vehicle in front of a store hereportedly owned when successively shot with a handgun by the motorcycle-riding assailant.
The suspect was wearing black jacket and red helmet, investigation showed.
A manhunt operation is being conducted against the suspect.
