CABANATUAN CITY – A construction worker and his alleged cohort, a farmer, reportedly yielded P683,400 worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation inside a subdivision here at about 1:30 a.m., June 28.
Col. Heryl Bruno, newly-designated acting director of the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office, said the suspects – a 42-year-old construction worker from Barangay San Isidro and 43-year-old farmer of Barangay Sap-Sap, both in Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija – were arrested after operatives of Cabanatuan City Police Station drug enforcement unit seized from them a total of 100.5 grams of shabu.
Bruno said an undercover operative initially bought one sachet, weighing 0.5 grams of shabu using a P1,000 bill which led to their subsequent arrest.
Upon conducting a protective search, the operatives recovered the buy-bust money, one piece knot-tied transparent plastic bag and five pieces heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets all containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu with an estimated weight of more or less 75 grams from the possession and control of the suspect, police reported.
Another heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu with an estimated weight of more or less 27 grams was seized from the possession and control from another suspect of the second suspect, it added.
Lt. Col. Renato Morales, city police chief, said the suspects are detained at the CCPS male custodial facility, facing charges of violating RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
“Behind every arrest is the commitment of our personnel to protect families and communities,” Bruno said. “Our fight against illegal drugs is not just a campaign – it is a duty we carry out daily with genuine concern for the safety of every Novo Ecijano.”
He commended several police stations such as Santa Rosa, San Isidro, Pantabangan, Quezon and Gen. Tinio that separately conducted anti-drug stings on Friday that resulted in the arrest of 11 other suspects and confiscation of more illegal drugs.
