ABUCAY, Bataan – Congratulatory messages in tarpaulins for Jessica Sanchez, now in Top 3 of American idol, sprouted in some areas in Bataan like on Monday (May 14) in Barangay Mabatang in the town of Abucay.

The association Mabatang Unified Citizens (MUC) or Mga Nagkakaisang Mamamayan ng Mabatang in their newly-installed canvass sheet not only congratulated Jessica but described her as “World-Class Filipino”.

Some middle-aged members of the 30-year old association were seen managing the installation of the tarpaulin at the village plaza adjacent to the MacArthur Highway.

“Anak-Bataan, Mahal ka ng Mabatang”, says the streamer of MUC on the 16-year old AI finalist with Filipino-American-Mexican blood considered by Bataan residents as their own.

Young boys and children with some members of the Mabatang organization temporarily stopped playing basketball and shouted “Mabuhay Jessica!”

MUC has scheduled a general assembly meeting on Tuesday afternoon. One of the agenda is the passage of a resolution of support for the half Pinay singing sensation.

In the Samal town plaza, a tarpaulin reads “Congratulations Jessica Sanchez, Samalenos are proud of you!”

At the welcome arc of barangay San Juan in Samal, inscribed on the small canvass are “Jessica Sanchez, Pride of Bataan and the Philippines.”

Jessica’s mother Editha has roots in San Juan. Editha’s father Eddie Bugay, a retired U.S. Navy man, is a native of the farming village.

Congratulatory messages on tarpaulins are also found in the plaza of Orani, Balanga City and barangay Calaguiman in Samal.
