ANGELES CITY — Pampanga 1st District Rep. Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. is set to lobby for P200 million pesos to fund the construction of computer labs in 19 public high schools in the First District in 2026.

Under the project, a state-of-the-art computer laboratory will be constructed in six public high schools in Magalang Municipality, 12 public high schools in Mabalacat City, and in Francisco G. Nepomuceno Memorial High School in Angeles City.

Each laboratory will be equipped with 50 computers – with five printers for every 10 computers; two air-conditioners; and one 55-inch smart TV.

The project was discussed during a meeting with District Engineer Arnold Ocampo of the DPWH Pampanga 3rd District Engineering Office on August 16, facilitated by Lazatin’s chief adviser, IC Calaguas, and chief political affairs officer Reina Manuel.

“It is our priority to put premium on education, and to invest in our future by investing our taxpayers’ money into projects that will aid the development of our youth,” Lazatin said.

In the same meeting Lazatin also disclosed he would lobby for P260 million to fund the repair all 173 daycare centers in the First District, and install two HP air-conditioners and a smart TV – at least 55 inches in size – in each day care center.

During his time as Angeles City mayor, Lazatin spearheaded the construction of 16 computer laboratories in various public high schools in the city.

Enrile Lerit, information communication and technology teacher and coordinator from Angeles City National Trade School (ACNTS), compared the computer laboratory to the ones he had seen while working abroad.

“Bilang isang teacher sa mahabang panahon na nakapagtrabaho na rin abroad, ang bagong bukas na computer laboratory dito sa school namin sa ACNTS is as in talagang pang world class,” said Lerit. “Actually, para sa’kin na nag-work sa Oman and UAE as a teacher, mas maganda pa itong computer laboratory na pinrovide ng city government.”

Also present during the meeting are Lazatin’s long-time staff – Mina Cabiles, Irish Llego, Michael Lising, Anneleen Antonio, Mary Jane Calimquim, Anne Salonga, and Sharmaine Gonzales. Team Lazatin
