CITY OF MALOLOS — The Bulacan Provincial Police Office at Camp Alejo Santos destroyed 1,654 pieces of illegal open pipe and modified motorcycle mufflers that were confiscated during the past Holiday Season.

Gov. Daniel Fernando and Bulacan police director Col. Angel Garcillano led the destruction of the noise-causing mufflers that were run over with a compactor truck to render them useless.

Garcillano said many of the exhaust pipes were confiscated at police checkpoints in the towns of Norzagaray, Sta Maria, Plaridel, Pandi, and City of San Jose del Monte.

He said that the Bulacan police will continue to apprehend motorcycle riders who use illegal exhaust pipes in the province.

Fernando, also said they that will continue to enforce the law prohibiting loud motorcycle mufflers in the province due to the noise nuisance they cause to the public.

He also warned those who make illegal exhaust pipes of cases to be filed against them.

The use of illegal, modified, or open-pipe motorcycle exhaust systems is prohibited under RA 4136 9Land Transportation and Traffic Code) and local ordinances in Bulacan that authorities actively confiscate such mufflers and issue fines to violators to curb noise pollution.
