ANGELES CITY – City Administrator Mark Allen Sison defended the city government’s P681-million sports complex project, saying it would help save the youth from the illegal drugs trade.
“The village chief (Balibago Barangay Captain Tony Mamac) failed to see that the complex will save many young people from illegal drugs through sports,’ said Sison. He also lashed at Mamac, saying “he is intervening on just about anything and I think he will run for president and not city mayor.”
“This is plain and simple politics. Mamac is grandstanding,” added Sison.
Sison disclosed that the six-hectare lot in Barangay Pandan to be used for the complex had been donated by Jaovil Realty owned by the Jao family.
“It will be advantageous for the city. It will own the vast lot,” said Sison.
Sison said the construction of the sports complex will be done through a loan.
“Mamac is against our project because it will be a loan. But he himself loaned P25 million for a new barangay hall. Isn’t that ironic?” said Sison.
Sison said Mayor Francis “Blueboy” Nepomuceno had been “very supportive” to the athletes of the city. He added that “they deserve a better area” for consistently winning in sports meet such as the Central Luzon Regional Athletic Assocation (CLRAA).
Sison said the complex will not be entirely used for sports. He added that it could be used for symposium, meetings, concerts and other public gatherings.
Sison said Mamac should “address first the problems in his village such as the peace and order situation before anything else.” He disclosed that last week a Toyota Camry parked near the barangay hall had been stolen.
“It’s a question of priorities,’ he added.
