MALOLOS CITY—Former Bulacan Gov. Josie Dela Cruz blamed an alleged syndicate operating inside the Commission on Elections (Comelec) of committing a post-election fraud that led to the unseating of her brother, incumbent Gov. Joselito Mendoza.

As this developed, Mendoza vowed not to step down despite the decision of the Comelec, and insisted that he didn’t cheat in the 2007 elections.

However, former Gov. Roberto Pagdanganan challenged Mendoza to be truthful and explain why the Capitol’s accounting office got burned two days after the May 14 elections.

“May sindikato sa Comelec at sila ang gumawa ng post election fraud kaya natalo si Gob. Jonjon,” Dela Cruz said referring to her brother who was unseated by Comelec’s second division in a ruling last December 1.

She said evidence they gathered “speak for themselves.”

“Nakapagtataka kung bakit  ang balota ng bayan ng Norzagaray ay napunta sa Bocaue at ang balota ng Bocaue ay napunta sa Norzagaray,” Dela Cruz said and stressed that that it was clear evidence of the works of the “Comelec syndicate.”

However, when asked for more information on the alleged Comelec Syndicate, she declined to answer..

She said that she only based her statement on the statement made by lawyer Romulo Macalintal.

For his part, Mendoza reiterated that he will not step down and stressed that he did not cheat in the 2007 elections.

“Hindi ako bababa dahil hinding-hindi ako nandaya sa halalan,” the emotional Mendoza said.

Mendoza also claimed that his coalition with the Liberal Party (LP) marked the start of his problems and blamed other politicians in the province for using their money to oust him.

But former Gov. Pagdanganan just laughed at Mendoza claims saying that Mendoza was the ally and partymate of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Interior Secretary Ronaldo Puno in the 2007 elections.

“Dapat matutuo siyang magsabi ng totoo, bakit hindi niya sabihin na siya ang kapartido at kaalyado ni GMA at ni Puno,” Pagdanganan said in a telephone interview.

He also challenged Mendoza to explain why the accounting office of the Capitol got burned after the 2007 elections.

Pagdanganan added that he received information that the Capitol  allegedly aligned budget worth hundreds of millions in pesos.

“Dapat din niyang ipaliwanag kung sino ang gumagastos at saan nanggagaling ang perang ginagamit sa mga taong nagsisipag vigil sa harap ng kapitolyo,” Pagdanganan said.

He further said, “bakit kung sino-sino ang sinisi nilang nandaya sa halalan, baka sila ang may gawa ng dayaan.”
