Comelec proclaims Ebdane as 2nd District rep of Zambales

    IBA, Zambales  —  The Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBoC) proclaimed Partido ng Manggagawa at Magsasaka party list candidate Jun Omar Ebdane, as the new representative of the 2nd District of Zambales.

    The 37-year old Ebdane, son of Zambales Governor Hermogenes  Ebdane Jr., beat four other candidates in a special congressional election conducted by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) following the death of Rep. Antonio Diaz in August last year.

    Ebdane led by 5,922 votes against closest rival Liberal Party bet Cheryl  Deloso Montalla, a daughter of former Zambales Governor Amor  Deloso.  He garnered a total of 62,867 votes while Deloso had 56,945 votes.

    Nationalista Party candidate Rica Diaz had 17,291 votes, and independent candidates Atty.  Wilfredo Paul Pangan with 3,756 votes and businessman Alfred Sebarotin Mendoza with 1,512 votes.

    Canvassing of ballots to determine the winning candidates was done at the Sangguniang Panglalawigan Session Hall, Provincial Capitol here.

    Ballot boxes containing envelopes of Certificates of Canvasses (Cocs) from the ten municipalities of the second district were delivered by members of the Municipal Board of Canvasser of each of the municipalities.

    The envelopes were opened, examined and read by the Provincial Board of Canvassers (PBoC) led by Provincial Commission on Election (Comelec) Supervisor Atty. Elaiza Sabile-David, who seat as the Chairman of the Board, Atty. Jorge Baculi, Vice Chairman and member Public School District Supervisor Dr. Perlita Basa.

    Ebdane, during his acceptance speech said, this time, he would work harder than before being the appointed Provincial Administrator before running in the special election,” for the benefit of my constituents and the whole province of Zambales.”

    “The campaign is over, so politics is over and back to work” he added.

    The young Ebdane acknowledged the support of his father, Governor Ebdane during his campaign.

    Ebdane said his priority programs include scholarship and educational assistance, and parallel to that the opening of more job opportunities. 

    “Para sa lahat panahon na para paunlarin ang Zambales.  Sulong Zambales!” Ebdane declared.

    Ebdane is expected to join his colleagues in Congress this Monday as the new representative for the province of Zambales.
