BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Commission on Elections on Monday continued with its two-day training for teacher-members of the Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) on the concept of the new automated election and the proper operation of the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines.
Lawyer Elmo Duque, provincial election supervisor, said the training has been going on this time for BEI members from the towns of Limay and Abucay composed of 162 teachers.
Limay election officer Berna Carreon demonstrated the use of the PCOS machine.
Duque said the seminar will go on until all the BEI members from 11 towns and one city are through. Each teacher received P2,000 honorarium.
On the first day, the public school teachers are trained on how to conduct the election with emphasis on moral value by being precise, accountable, responsible and honest, the lawyer said.
For the second part, the BEI are taught how to operate the PCOS machines and coached on how to account for all the election paraphernalia. “They are being trained to do acts of responsibility, accountability and to uphold the principle of Comelec that the election is honest and credible. It is upon them that we rely so much,” Duque said.
