CLARK FREEPORT – The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is calling on those who are eligible to vote or needs to be reactivated on May 9, 2022 to register to the local Comelec office until September 30, 2021.
Comelec deputy regional director Atty. Elmo Duque made the appeal during the “Balitaan” media forum organized by the Capampangan in Media, Inc. (CAMI) in cooperation with the Clark Development Corp. (CDC) at the Bale Balita here last Friday.
Duque, who was guest of the Balitaan which was conducted via Zoom due to the ongoing enhance community quarantine (ECQ), also took the opportunity to announce the calendar of activities for the 2022 elections.
Eligible voters or those who will turn 18 years old on election day on May 9 who are not yet registered may go to the local Comelec office to register from 8 am to 5 pm, from Monday to Friday until September 30, 2021.
Duque said Saturdays will be for offsite registration days in malls or any Comelec designated places. He also said it is important to observe minimum health protocols set by the inter-agency task force (IATF) for the management of emerging infectious diseases like wearing of face masks and face shields.
Duque said the filing of certificate of candidacies (COC) will be from October 1 to 8, 2021 with no extension.
But candidates who may withdraw their COCs have until November 15, 2021 and their substitutes may file their COCs until November 16, 2021 with no extension, Duque said.
The campaign period for local candidates for governors, vice governors, mayors, vice mayors, board members and councilors will be from March 25 to May 8, 2022 while those running for national positions will be from January 9 to May 8, 2022.
The election period will be from January 9 to June 8, 2022 which means that gun and liquor bans will be in effect.
The Comelec election supervisor in Pampanga is Atty. Lydia Pangilinan while the regional director is Atty. Gloria Petallo.
