    CABANATUAN CITY – An argument over alleged unpaid bet of P400 pesos led to the death of two people and wounding of six others in a cockpit arena in Santa Rosa, Nueva Ecija Saturday morning.

    Ramilito Catapang, 41, a resident of Lipahan, San Juan, Batangas and Reynaldo Carlos, 38, of 748 Gen. Tinio St, Barangay Quezon District, here died on the spot, according to police chief, Senior Insp. Reynaldo dela Cruz.

    Dela Cruz identified those injured as Rolando Aduna, 50; Emily Aduna,49, both of Bantug Norte; Edward Villalon, 49, of Barangay Berang; Fe De Leon,45, Daang Sarile;  Luis Alday, Mabini and Crisanto Cabog, of Aduas Sur all in this city .

    Dela Cruz said initial investigation disclosed that the incident occurred at about 1:25 a.m. when a certain Amboy Lovete and Sadsad engaged in an altercation over unpaid bet, supposedly of the latter to De Leon.

    People in the cockpit suddenly heard gunfire that left Sadsad and Carlos dead. Carlos was the “Kristo” or bet arranger of the cockpit, it was learned.

    Recovered from the crime scene were one cal. 45, seven empty shells for cal. 45, one empty shell for .9 mm and one slug for cal. 45.

    The police has not disclosed yet who shot the first bullet as well as who owns the recovered gun.
