Coastal, river cleanup held in every barangay in Bataan

SAMAL, Bataan: Villages in Bataan participated in the International Cleanup Day with barangay officials and workers and  other volunteers cleaning rivers and coastal areas Saturday, September 16. 

In Samal town, chairman Hector Forbes of Barangay Sta. Lucia and Ibaba Barangay chairman Orland Malibiran led volunteers in the early morning cleanup in their respective villages. 

Sacksful  of different garbage were gathered in a river in Sta. Lucia and along the coastal area in Ibaba.

In Sta. Lucia, most of the participants were members of the Barangay council, Barangay Tanod, Barangay Health Workers, other village officials and volunteers.

Some volunteers from Ibaba were armed with rakes and other cleaning tools.

Punong Barangay Forbes explained  that the activity was not only observed in Samal but in the whole country. “Ito ay bahagi ng International Cleanup drive na taon-taon ay isinasagawa para pangalagaan ang marine life upang maiwasang kumalat ang anomang basura sa karagatan.”

He said that Mayor Alex Acuzar has directed leaders of 14 barangays and village and municipal workers to participate in the activity.
