SCIENCE CITY OF MUÑOZ (PIA) — The Central Luzon State University (CLSU) is marking National Arts Month 2026 with a month-long lineup of activities that highlight creativity, cultural heritage, and artistic expression under the theme “Ani ng Sining: Katotohanan at Giting.”

Led by the College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS) and the Cultural Affairs Office, the celebration opened at the University Auditorium with a ceremonial gong striking and performances by the Maestro Singers, Bithay Sining Dance Troupe, and Tanghalang Gagalaw sa CLSU.

In his keynote message, CLSU President Evaristo Abella underscored the role of art beyond aesthetics, calling it as a ‘vital instrument for social consciousness’.

The Central Luzon State University, through its College of Arts and Social Sciences and Cultural Affairs Office, kicks off the celebration of National Arts Month 2026 at the University Auditorium with the theme “Ani ng Sining: Katotohanan at Giting.” (CLSU)

Through our art, we can better understand ourselves and the condition of the society we live in. It also becomes a bridge for us to express our feelings, whether we are happy or even frustrated, because art does not hide behind falsehood, but shows the true events and the state of our emotions and of our community),” he added.

Guest speaker and Nueva Ecija Provincial Tourism Officer Jan Mara Stefan San Pedro commended CLSU for upholding truth and courage through the arts.

She explained that the term “Ani” represents a harvest of memories, experiences, and provincial affirmation, while “Sining” serves as a vessel for truth and excellence.

CLSU Vice President for Academic Affairs Ravelina Velasco emphasized that the arts play a crucial role in nation-building by preserving Filipino heritage, strengthening national identity, and fostering creativity within the academic community.

Throughout February, the university will host art exhibits, forums, fashion showcases, and film screenings.

Major events include the Sinag ng Likha: The Radiance of Creation, TALAS: Tagisan ng Alab at Sining, CASS Expo 2.0, RE-VOGUE: The Artcycle Couture 2026, and Pinilakang Tabing: Selebrasyon ng Pelikulang Pilipino.
