CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — No trooping to schools but staying at home with their computers and learning modules for some 2.7 million students in Central Luzon Monday with the opening of classes.
“Education must continue despite the pandemic as we all ensure the health and safety of our learners and personnel. Together, we will learn, and we will heal as one,” a statement from the Department of Education Region 3 office read.
A total of 2,732,479 learners in the region are enrolled for School Year 2020-2021 as of October 1, said the DepEd Regional Policy, Planning and Research Division. Of these, 87.59 percent or 2,393,421 are in public schools, 12.19 percent comprising 333,046 are in private schools and 6,012 or 0.22 percent in state and local universities and colleges.
“We are more than ready to respond to the challenges of the New Normal Education thru the implementation of the Regional Learning Continuity Plan. We hope to have provided the necessary guidance and technical assistance to the schools division offices and basic education schools both public and private,” DepEd-3 director Nicolas Capulong said at Friday’s virtual kick-off program.
Alternative Learning Modalities this school year include digital modular distance learning, printed modular distance learning, synchronous online distance learning, asynchronous online distance learning, television-based instruction, radio-based instruction, and blended distance learning.
Capulong commended teachers, school heads, non-teaching personnel and school division superintendents for taking on the challenge to adapt to the new mode of teaching and learning applied this school year.
He also thanked “DepEd partners in education like our local government officials, media partners and other benevolent groups and individuals who tirelessly support us.”
The education director expressed his sense of gratitude most specially to the parents and students for trusting DepEd’s efforts by deciding to enroll this school year.
