SAMAL, Bataan — The opening of classes in public elementary and secondary schools in Bataan like in this town started smoothly Monday.

At the Samal South Elementary School in Barangay Sta. Lucia, teachers attended to children by taking their temperature and disinfecting their hands with alcohol as they entered the school and the classrooms.

Children before entering their classrooms have to pass and place their feet on sanitation rugs as teachers reminded them of observing health protocol. Some children cried as their parents tried to leave them alone in their first day in school.

Children in face masks and in orderly lines sang with gusto the Lupang Hinirang, did some exercises and recited their oath which they failed to do in groups for almost two years due to the pandemic.

School principal Alice De Guzman said that all were excited to go to classes. “Nandito ang teaching and non-teaching staff para punan ang pangangailangan ng mga estudyante sa abot ng aming makakaya.”

She reminded the teachers, parents, and pupils that the coronavirus disease is still present and waiting for someone to be victimized. “Kaya huwag kalilimutan ang pagsusuot ng facemask at bago pumasok sa room ay alam ang temperature.”

Rural health midwife Lolita Poblete reminded all that everyone should be careful of dengue aside from Covid–19. She enumerated ways of preventing dengue.
