Clark to host 2nd aviation confab in May

    UNREQUITED. Emirates, it has turned out, did not love Clark having decided to end its “co-hubitation” with its airport come May, barely eight months after settling here.

    CLARK FREEPORT –An aviation conference is set on May 16 at the Holiday Inn Grand Ballroom here dubbed:

    “Clark: Reshaping Philippine Aviation – The Aerotropolis Concept.” The conference will highlight this freeport anchored on the Clark International Airport (CIA) here as an Aerotropolis and aims to identify the infrastructure and policy developments which will enhance its growth potential and economic impact.

    The Aerotropolis model is an urban development plan which places the airport in the center and the contiguous cities growing around it. The keynote speaker in the conference is Greg Lindsay, a world-renowned journalist, urbanist and co-author of the highly acclaimed best-selling book “Aerotropolis: The Way We’ll Live Next.”

    Lindsay will explain how airports are becoming anchors for new cities and their role for a country’s national development. The Clark Aviation Conference 2014 features a diverse roster of expert speakers which includes Atty. Arnel Paciano Casanova, president and CEO of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority; urban planner Arch. Felino Palafox Jr.; Rep. Joseller “Yeng” Guiao (Pampanga, 1st district); economist Dr. Roberto de Ocampo; Clark International Airport Corp. President- CEO Victor Jose I. Luciano; as well as other key decision-makers and
    economic experts from both the public and private sectors.The experts will examine the CIA’s critical role in driving economic expansion in the Philippines and Asia.

    The Clark Aviation Conference 2014 will gather more than 300 senior government officials and C-level executives from aircraft manufacturers; airport and airline, aviation and third-party service providers; aviation training schools; civil aviation regulators; fi nancial institutions; global distribution systems; legal practitioners; logistics and supply chain; maintenance, repair and operations; property developers and urban planners; tourism authorities; travel, hospitality and other relevant sectors.
