CLARK FREEPORT – Spray a few drops on your palm, rub palms against each other, inhale deeply and exhale the aroma from cupped palms five times. Inevitably feel relaxed from the day’s tension. Then rub palms on the nape to finally calm dregs of frayed nerves.

That was how I was refreshed on the first day of the Clark Community Market Fair which should have included the term organics in its name because that was and will be its nature (literally) henceforth, every Friday before each pay day (about mid and end of month) or on pay day itself if this turns out to be a Friday.

Yes, the fair is not-so-usual as it vows to sell mostly things genuinely organic, that is, devoid of chemicals and other largely man-made stuff that often get in the way of good health: fresh vegetables, preserved vegetables, potted medicinal plants, canned and bottled preserves, soaps and other such products as to complement and enhance natural good looks.

A material handed me also indicated, however, that the fair is not only for “health and wellness products” but also for “crafts and decor, native delicacies, home-made items and curios, gift ideas.”

The fair’s first day was last Feb. 15 which turned out to be a Friday payday beside Building 2127 at the Clark Development Corp. (CDC) complex here. Simpler: across from the small, two-storey office of the CDC tourism office that is reputed to be haunted, near that newly opened 7-11 store.

It’s a project of the CDC, Clark Human Resources Council and Angeles Organics Market whose objectives are to: promote environmentally sound entrepreneurship among Metro Clark employees and residents; provide a venue for the trade of organic, indigenous, home-made products; provide a venue for product promotion for business; provide alternative sources of various produce and home-grown product; and, contribute to the overall quality of the Metro Clark citizens.

    Heavy. And, wow, organic.
