An intensity-6 magnitude earthquake hit Clark International Airport (CRK) on Monday which forced airport authorities to suspend international and domestic flights.
Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) chief Jaime Melo said seven persons suffered minor injuries when a part of the ceiling at the check-in lobby collapsed.
The said persons were immediately brought for treatment at a nearby hospital.
The CIAC crisis team, headed by Melo, informed media that there were no damages caused by the earthquake at the airport’s runway and taxiway.
“We have to ensure the soundness of the building structure and other facilities as we are assessing cother structural damages around the airport,” Melo said.
Flights were suspended for 24 hours beginning 7:40 pm today.
