On Sept. 22, 2020, a news story headlined “Weed-laced liquid soap seized in Clark” was published in Punto! Online.

The story sourced from the Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark cited a certain “Metro Mobilia Corp.” as the consignee of the seized shipment.

We admit, and regret, the lack of due diligence on our part, considering that it was still a developing story at that stage, unknowing that on Sept. 29, 2020 the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Regional Office 3 issued a Certification to wit:

“Quantitative examination conducted on the confiscated items from the consignee Mr. Mikos Crispo of Metro Mobilia Corp. gave NEGATIVE result for the presence of Dangerous Drugs, Controlled Precursor and Essential Chemicals based on Chemistry Report Numbers PDEA-R03-20-0162 to 0163.”

And furthered: “Based on same result, Mr. Frederick A. Juan is cleared from this Agency and no criminal charge was filed against him.”

We appreciate the GSE Law, counsel of Metro Mobilia Corp., for taking the issue with us in a demand letter dated Sept. 17, 2021.

Hence, this corrective clarification even as we have deleted the story from our website.

Our apologies.
