CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB) commenced its series of public consultations for this year’s review of the existing minimum wage in Central Luzon.

About 76 representatives from various sectors participated in the Pampanga leg, 108 in Bulacan, and 70 in Bataan.

Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Regional Director and RTWPB Chairperson Geraldine Panlilio said the activity is one of the initial steps in ensuring equitable wages for workers in the region.

“The public consultations provide an opportunity for stakeholders, labor unions, employers, and employees to voice out their concerns and insights and contribute to the decision-making process,” she explained.

“The valuable inputs and feedback from the sectors involved will be thoroughly considered in crafting a comprehensive and balanced minimum wage adjustment proposal,” Panlilio added.

Meanwhile, RTWPB OIC-Board Secretary Kenneth Liza disclosed that they will conduct soon public consultations in the provinces of Zambales, Tarlac, Nueva Ecija, and Aurora.

“I urge all stakeholders, employers, employees, and labor unions from the remaining provinces to please attend the public consultations. Through this, we can ensure a well-balanced representation of sectors,” Liza said.

RTWPBs are mandated by law to periodically assess wage rates and conduct continuing studies used in the determination of the minimum wage rates applicable in the region or industry.

The dates and locations of the public consultation for the remaining provinces are yet to be finalized and announced.

Interested parties are advised to coordinate with their respective DOLE Field Offices or reach RTWPB through its official communication hotlines. (CLJD-PIA 3)
