ANGELES CITY – “Where are the incomes and how much was earned in the recent activities of the tourism office?”
This was raised by Pinoy Gumising Ka Movement (PGKM) Chairman Ruperto “Perto” Cruz as he assailed anew Pie Angeles Flores, head of Angeles City Tourism Office (ACTO).
Cruz was referring to the “Tigtigan, Terakan Keng Dalan,” a Mardi-Gras type festivity involving show bands and other performances held yearly in October in Barangay Balibago.
“The annual fest will be held again soon and they have yet to properly account for the earnings, and losses if any, in the same event last year,” said Cruz.
Cruz vowed to sue Flores before the office of the Ombudsman if the report on the income “seemed not real.”
“They should properly account for the income. Otherwise, they may be up in trouble,” said Cruz.
Cruz said that under previous city administrations, a portion of the income had been given to charitable institutions.
“I wonder where they give the income this time,” added Cruz.
Cruz earlier expressed disappoinment over the decision of Flores to remove anti-pollution streamers in front of the Royal Golf and Country Club (RGCC) in Barangay Cutcut here. Cruz co-owns the RGCC.
Cruz said Flores should also properly account for the income earned by her office through the fees imposed on the streamers.
He said that a portion of the income had been given to the Angeles Electric Company (AEC) as payment for using the electric poles of the private firm in placing the streamers.
He argued that the AEC should also share their income to the lot owners where its electric poles are.
Cruz said the AEC is owned by the Nepomuceno family who share blood kinship with Mayor Francis “Blueboy” Nepomuceno.
“Flores is again favoring her bosses at the expense of the taxpayers,’ said Cruz, referring to the removal of his advocacy streamers ordered by Flores.
