ANGELES CITY – The city government has partnered with a private company to remove used oil and grease from the drainage system to prevent them from clogging and eventually, flooding.
The city government, through an ordinance, tied up with the Soliman EC Septage Company for the cleanup which started in Barangay Sto. Domingo over-the-weekend.
Councilor Jesus “Jay” Sangil said the cooperation with the Soliman company was made following the amendments of Section 87 or the “Disposal of septic, grease, used oil and used cooking oil” of City Ordinance No. 431 series of 2017 otherwise known as the Angeles City Environment Code.
Councilor Edu G. Pamintuan sponsored the ordinance amending chapter 7 and 13 of the said ordinance to implement the project.
“Of course, it will cascade down to other barangays in partnership with the City Environment and Natural Resources (CENRO) and Soliman EC,” Sangil replied when asked if the cleanup will also involve other barangays.
Sangil thanked Liga ng Mga Barangay head Jerry Alejandrino and Sto. Domingo Barangay Captain Oliver Chaneco for supporting the project.
“Sa konting malasakit, we are saving our city from massive floodings,” Sangil added.
He said the effort is also in line with Soliman EC’s program dubbed “Iwas baha, iwas sakit, sa konting malasakit.
