ANGELES CITY – Five persons reportedly engaged in fake notarial services were arrested by operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Angeles City Field Unit in entrapment operations along MacArthur Highway, Barangay Sto. Domingo here past noon of Feb. 27.
The suspects were identified as Jennifer Bacus, 49, of Sto. Nino, Sto. Tomas, Pampanga; Howard Quilantang, 27, of Telabastagan, City of San Fernando; Lolita Lopez, 68 of Barangay Syo. Domingo Angeles City – all of Ed Villegas Insurance and General Services; Ronald Arcilla, 55, of Barangay Sto. Domingo, Angeles City, and Princess Sarah Wingco, 30, of Pandacaqui, Mexico, Pampanga – both of Julie David/John and Cess Insurance Services.
A spot report to the CIDG Regional Field Office-3 said the suspects were “caught in the act with conspiracy to one another engaged in unauthorized/fake notarial services impersonating and/or using fictitious names of lawyers and their roll numbers.”
It furthered that “the operation stemmed on the information provided by the IBP-Pampanga Chapter that fake notarial services are rampant in the province of Pampanga particularly in San Fernando City and Angeles City.”
Representatives of IBP-Pampanga led by Atty. Peter Paul Maglalang along with the Task Force Fake Notaries, and Angeles City Police Station 1 joined the CIDG in the entrapment operations.
Recovered from the suspects were three P100 bills dusted with UV powder used as the marked money; notarized document (affidavit of loss) bearing the name of Atty. Alberto T. Lansang with Roll No. 12098; one notarial seal; 10 rubber stamps; one stamp pad; four typewriters; and one hand bag.
Along with the confiscated pieces of evidence, the suspects were brought to the CIDG Regional Field Unit 3 office for processing and documentation preparatory to inquest proceedings before the City Prosecutor of Angeles City.
