CLARK FREEPORT ZONE, Pampanga (PIA) — Employees of the Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) provided aid to an indigenous peoples (IP) community in Aurora which was devastated by Tropical Cyclone Uwan.
The initiative, dubbed “Bayanihan sa Casiguran”, aimed to help Agta residents of Sitio Dipontian, Barangay Cozo in Casiguran town recover from the aftermath of the super typhoon.
In a statement, CIAC said its personnel donated construction materials, including paint, fiber cement boards, corrugated roof sheets, cement, gloves, paint brushes and rollers, hand saws, and claw hammers to help the residents rebuild their homes and school.

They also turned over 50 bags of rice donated by the CIAC Provident Fund Inc. and the CIAC Employees’ Association Inc.
The activity was carried out with the assistance of the Aurora Pacific Economic Zone and Freeport, which facilitated the orderly distribution of supplies to the Agta beneficiaries.
It exemplifies the state firm’s commitment to the welfare of vulnerable communities.
The outreach likewise reflects CIAC’s broader mission to uplift communities and create meaningful social impact, demonstrating that its role extends beyond aviation into philanthropy and disaster recovery.
Tropical Cyclone Uwan caused widespread destruction in Aurora, damaging nearly 4,000 homes, with Casiguran among the hardest hit.
Sitio Dipontian alone saw over 1,100 houses and school facilities destroyed.
The Agta of Casiguran, also known as the Casiguran Dumagat, are part of the broader Negrito communities residing in the eastern Sierra Madre mountains. (CLJD/MJSC, PIA Region 3)
