SAMAL, Bataan — At exactly 12 midnight of Saturday, police and the Commission on Elections set-up checkpoints in 11 towns and a city in Bataan like in this town as the election period started.
Senior Inspector Winston Norte, Samal police chief, and his deputy Senior Insp. Rizaldy Rubio supervised the checkpoint as municipal election officer Maribeth Abadecio and her staff closely watched.
Abadecio said the election period for the May 13, 2019 national elections started Sunday and to end on June 13, 2019.
“Sana ngayon pa lang pag-isipan na natin kung sino dapat iboto na alam nating makakatulong sa bayan,” she said when asked what she would like to advise voters.
Norte said midnight of Saturday marked the simultaneous setting-up of Comelec-PNP checkpoints nationwide.
“Ang violation na tinitingnan namin mostly implementation ng gun ban. Maraming dapat isaalang-alang sa checkpoint. Sa motorista dapat mandatory stop. Sa pulis doctrine of plain view ang sinusunod,” he said.
He said that police officers should man the checkpoint with a police vehicle in place and the area well-lighted.
“Unang-una, strict observance of human rights ang pinapairal sa checkpoint,” the police chief said.
