Carries total of 9 million doses to the PH since April 2021
Cebu Pacific (PSE: CEB), the Philippines’ leading carrier, today, June 28, safely transported another one million COVID-19 vaccine doses from Beijing to Manila, via flight 5J 671.
This was the second major shipment in less than a week, after CEB successfully brought home two million doses from China on June 24. These consecutive vaccine arrivals indicate progress in the rollout of our country’s inoculation program.
“We are grateful to Cebu Pacific and other carriers for assisting us in ensuring that these life-saving vaccines reach our country safely. We look forward to collaborating with the private sector as we anticipate the arrival of more vaccines in the coming months,” said vaccine czar, Sec. Carlito Galvez, Jr., chief implementer of the National Task Force Against COVID-19.
All these vaccines were preserved in temperature-specific refrigerated containers to maintain potency and efficacy up until arrival at the designated stations.
“We are glad to keep bringing these vaccines home and aid in the distribution across the country,” Alex Reyes, Chief Strategy Officer at Cebu Pacific. “We will continue supporting our government in its efforts to fight COVID-19,” added Reyes.
Over the week, more than 87,000 doses were airlifted to different provinces namely, Dipolog, Legazpi, Masbate, Puerto Princesa, Tuguegarao, and Virac. Dipolog is the newest addition to CEB’s roster of now 16 Philippine provinces.
To date, CEB has flown 9 million COVID-19 doses from China, while close to 1.8 million doses have been distributed across the Philippines.
CEB operates the widest domestic network in the Philippines covering 32 destinations, on top of its five (5) international destinations. Its 75-strong fleet, one of the youngest in the world, includes two (2) dedicated ATR freighters and one (1) A330 freighter.
