CLARK FREEPORT — The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) clinched the Tourism Promotion Excellence Award from the Manila Overseas Press Club (MOPC), spotlighting its success in transforming Clark into a leading destination for leisure and travel.
CDC President and CEO Atty. Agnes VST Devanadera received the award during the MOPC Grand Tourism Night held on August 15 at New World Hotel in Makati City. The event gathered key figures from government and industry, including First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos, who delivered the keynote address, and Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco.
MOPC recognized CDC for repurposing the former military base into a vibrant tourism hub that meets the core needs of travelers, lodging, dining, shopping, sightseeing, and recreation—within a clean, green, and accessible environment.
“You don’t just promote the country, you tell its story and you say it with heart,” the First Lady said, commending the honorees for shaping the narrative of Philippine tourism.
Secretary Frasco emphasized tourism’s role as a key economic driver, contributing nearly 9 percent to the country’s GDP and generating employment for millions of Filipinos.
MOPC Chairman Antonio Lopez and President Eric Canoy led the awarding ceremony. Other awardees include San Miguel Corporation Chairman of the Board and CEO Ramon Ang; Globe Telecom President and CEO Carl Raymond Cruz; and CEO of Alliance Global Group Inc., the parent company of Megaworld Corporation, Kevin Tan among others. PAGCOR Chairman Alejandro Tengco was also one of the key officials and guests present at the event.
CDC continues to position Clark Freeport Zone as a strategic gateway for tourism, investment, and regional development.
