The P120-million road project called Clark East Perimeter Road will run along the east perimeter fence of this freeport from the Mabalacat Gate to SM City Clark in Balibago, Angeles City.
During the media forum “Inn the News” organized by the Capampangan in Media, Inc. (CAMI) in cooperation with the Clark Development Corp. (CDC), the Social Security System (SSS) and the Holiday Inn Resort Clark at the hotel’s Yakal Room on Friday, Mabalacat City Mayor Marino “Boking” Morales said the road project would ease traffic flow along the busy MacArthur Highway in Mabalacat.
The mayor also said the three-kilometer Clark spur road that will connect the northern part of Mabalacat directly to this freeport has been finalized with funding from the CDC, Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), municipalities of Bamban and Capas in Tarlac and Mabalacat.
The CDC said the construction of the Clark East Perimeter Road, which will serve as a bypass route, will start soon and will be finished by March 2016.
The CDC said the perimeter road project is being funded by the state-run firm as part of its parallel development program that would spur progress in localities contiguous to the freeport.
The CDC said the winning bidder for the perimeter road project is the Urban Integrated Consultancy, Inc. (UICI) as the design consultant of the approximately six-kilometer road project. UICI is set to sign a contract with the CDC for the project.
The CDC said the Clark East Perimeter Road will entail the construction of drainage facilities, a bridge spanning the Quitangil Creek and will initially be built with two lanes but with an expansion area for a four-lane road.
Meanwhile, Morales said the two road projects will further boost Mabalacat City’s accessibility that would ease the flow of trade and commerce for the benefit of Mabalaqueňos.
