
CLARK FREEPORT — In support of food and nutrition security in the Metro Clark area, Clark Development Corporation (CDC) participated in a multi-sectoral Nutrition Month celebration held on July 29 at the Clark Training Center.
The event included a series of interactive activities that highlighted the importance of nutrition in daily life. Families showcased their culinary skills in a cooking contest themed “Masustansiyang Pagkain para sa Pamilyang Pinoy, Ating Ihain,”while children joined a Nutri-Costume parade and Nutri-Quiz competition aimed at promoting awareness of proper nutrition.
The celebration formed part of the Roots to Shoots (RTS) initiative, a multi-program collaboration funded by Bloomberry Cultural Foundation Inc. (BCFI), and implemented by Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc. (PSFI). Launched in 2023, RTS integrates Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), Mother and Child Care (MCC), and Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) to address key public health and development challenges.
A learning session led by the National Nutrition Council (NNC) emphasized that nutrition is a basic human right, reinforcing the event’s central message of inclusive health and well-being.
Participants included residents from Barangays Sto. Niño and San Vicente in Bamban, and Barangays Calumpang and Marcos Village in Mabalacat City, along with teachers, parents, and children from Family Care Center – Sto. Niño.
CDC’s involvement underscored its commitment to advancing public health and sustainable development in the Clark Freeport Zone and surrounding communities. The celebration was made possible through the collaboration of BCFI,PSFI, Manila Water Foundation, LGU Bamban – Municipal Health Office, LGU Mabalacat City – City Nutrition Office, and the NNC– Region III.
