CLARK FREEPORT – The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) and Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, Inc. (GKCDFI) are set to construct an initial 20 houses for Aeta families at Sitio Monicayo, Bamban in Tarlac.

The housing project was included in the agreement signed earlier between CDC and GKCDFI for the improvement of the communities at the Clark Special Economic Zone, also known as the Next Frontier Project and Clark Highlands.

The recipients of the housing projects are families who will be affected by the development in the area. Sitio Monicayo is one of the suitable sites for the CDC-GK housing projects.

The CDC and GKCDFI aimed to give better quality of life for indigent families in helping them build homes and communities, provide them a sense of security and well-being, teaching them livelihood skills and organizing them into a model community embodying the “Filipino Bayanihan spirit.”

The Clark Highlands has about 10,323 hectares to be managed and developed by CDC in accordance with the Master Development Plan for the economic zone.

It is subject to the agreed sharing scheme and other duties and responsibilities under the Joint Management agreement of CDC with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).

The construction of houses for Aetas is part of the corporate social responsibilities of CDC to the communities surrounding the Metro Clark area.

More houses in cooperation with the GKCDFI will be constructed for benefits of the indigenous people at the ecozone, the CDC said.
