CLARK FREEPORT — Clark Development Corporation (CDC), through its Engineering Services Group (ESG), has recently completed its P7. 3 million Covered Pathway Project located at the Friendship Gate of this Freeport.
The pathway, which is 715.41 linear meters in length, will benefit the pedestrian workers and visitors who are entering Clark through the Friendship Gate. It is also meant to provide shade for the commuting public and make it easier for them to travel by allowing them to walk from the jeepney station outside Friendship road to the nearest waiting shed near the intersection.
This initiative also involved the provision of a covered path walk, including cleaning, restoration, and repair of existing drainage structures.
According to CDC- ESG headed by Vice President Dennis C. Legaspi, other ongoing initiatives include Phase 4 of the Bike Lane, which is expected to be finished by September this year. This project entails the construction of a two-meter-wide, seven-kilometer-long inbound and outbound bike lane that will allow cyclists traveling from the Friendship Gate to pass the M.A. Roxas Highway, leading to the Clark Main Gate.
Once completed, the bike lane will provide access for workers inside the Freeport Zone with a seamless and safer path while biking to work. It will also provide a longer bike route for leisure bikers and cyclists entering and exiting through the main gate.
Meanwhile, expected to be finished soon is the P34.3 million, BCDA-funded New Clark City Non-Motorized Transport System. This project involves the construction of a non-motorized transport system to Clark Freeport Zone, including a bike path from Mabalacat Gate, passing through Gil Puyat, Panday Pira, Creekside Roads, M.A. Roxas Highway, up to New Clark City. Also included are the restoration of concrete curbs, construction of sidewalks, metal frames and gratings, bike path painting, pavement markings, and tree transplanting.
All these road networks and covered walkways are aimed at providing additional roads, bike lanes, and pedestrian access to all workers, visitors, and stakeholders of the Freeport.
Another on-going project is the construction of the Clark North Gate, located between Clark North Exit of Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX) and the Sacobia Bridge. Other projects that are also in the pipeline are improvements of guesthouses, renovation of CDC offices, improvements of the drainage system and construction of the satellite office of the Environmental Protection Division, and the construction of the Connector Road from McArthur Highway to Clark Freeport Zone.
