In October 2014, Cayetano gave the first tranche of P150,000 to BOTDA and P50,000 to the Balibago Senior Citizens’ Organization promising to return and double the grants if the two organizations will be able to use the amount to help their members and increase their capital.
Under Cayetano’s program – Puhunan, Trabaho, Kita (PTK) – BOTDA members are entitled to small loans at very low interest and easy payment schemes.
At the sidelines before the short program at the Balibago Barangay Hall, Cayetano said he is still contemplating on his next political move whether to run for president, vice president or senator.
Cayetano said he might announce his political plans next month after assessing his chances in whatever position he might chose to run.
“I think I will have another month (to assess)… part of due diligence or part of wisdom… tingnan mo kung saan ka may pagasa (…look where you have a greater chance of winning) because you are running to win to be able to do your programs and not just run,” Cayetano said.
“A big part of the decision will be saan ka may magandang chances of winning (…where you have a greater chance of winning),” he added. On the election campaign, the senator said “what we need to hear from people running for public office is their opinion on issues.
“Traffic, Clark…will it be dual airport or main airport, what is the plan with the four Ps (Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program) will it continue or enhanced? I think we can get away from the decision of who’s running for what, but what do you stand for?” Cayetano explained.
“I hope this election will not focus on just personality but on issues,” he added.
Barangay Captain Tony Mamac and Vice Mayor Vicky Vega-Cabigting were on hand to welcome the senator who came from San Fernando, La Union where he also fulfilled his commitment to his PTK micro- financing and Anti Five-Six (anti loan shark lending) program.
Kapampangan businessmen Rene Romero, vice chair of the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Pruds Garcia, president of Mekeni Foods Corp., accompanied Cayetano from the Clark airport where his helicopter landed.
