Following its launch in 2018, the City Government of San Fernando released once again medical health cards to its casual employees for this year as part of this capital city’s health and wellness program in the workforce.
The ceremonial turnover of the 2019 prepaid plan medical health cards to employee-beneficiaries was already held on March 11 during a flag raising ceremony led by Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago and Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin at the City Hall.
After more than a week, the City Human Resource Management Office (CHRMO) officially held an orientation at the Heroes Hall where usage and coverage of the cards was taught by partner healthcare provider, Maxicare Health Care Corporation.
As previously underscored, the cards cover the employees’ emergency care needs and life accidental death and dismemberment, through Maxicare’s “EReady” program, and for their in-patient care needs, which will be covered under the provider’s “Lite” program.
The in-patient care coverage includes eight identified diseases such as dengue, malaria, cholera, typhoid and paratyphoid, gastroenteritis, pneumonia, chikungunya, and leptospirosis, and for different emergency cases, with exclusions and limitations, in several LGU-accredited health institutions in the city.
The plan, which runs from March of the current year to March 2020, was made possible through the efforts of a technical working group, composed of some city officials, heads of offices, and city rural health physicians.
Santiago, who puts Health agenda as one of his top priorities, reiterated that health is vital to employees to be productive at work.
“In order for us to serve the community well, we, public servants, should be healthy, hindi lang yung physical attribute kung hindi yung heart and mind natin. Ayaw natin na magkasakit or may mangyaring hindi inaasahan sa inyo pero kung dumating man, prepared tayo,” said Santiago.
The local chief executive also shared that the City Health Office is always open to attend to the employees’ medical needs.
The CHO, during the program, reminded the employees to avail the services of the City Medical Unit, located at City Hall, which was built to cater the employees’ medical-related concerns.
The city also holds an annual physical examination to all its employees.
