IBA, Zambales — A total of 342 beneficiaries of the Cash-for-Training Project (CTP) graduated from the scholarship convergence program of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in this province on June 13.
TESDA Provincial Director Elizabeth Manio, says that CTP beneficiaries who were screened by DSWD all over the province including Olongapo went through their programs in the provincial office and in their accredited training providers.
Manio said that programs leading to National Certification II (NCII) such as bartending, welding, computer hardware servicing, electronics servicing, housekeeping, commercial cooking and other crash courses, are seen as a sustainable intervention in empowering youth for gainful employment and entrepreneurial opportunities.
She added that together with DSWD, TESDA allotted a total of P7 million for this program, at P20,000 per student with allowances and tool-kits.
Stressing the importance of the program, graduation speaker Vice Gov. Ramon G. Lacbain II who also serves as the provincial manager of Public Employment Service Office says that in time with CTP the province also plots its sustainable implementation by assuring that graduates will be assisted in applying for jobs or for creating jobs through business.
“We will be more than happy to see our skilled graduates finally secure their future through employment and business. Our PESO has always been a partner of TESDA and DSWD in guiding our youth through jobs-bridging activities to facilitate their employment,” Lacbain said.
