Carjack, drug traffic suspects killed

    CANDABA, Pampanga – A suspected leader of a carjacking and drug trafficking syndicate and his companion were shot dead by the police at Pansimao Village here at about 11 a.m. here last Monday.

    The local police identified the slain suspects as Romeo Guinto, alias Bong Guinto, supposedly the leader of a gang with alleged links to carjacking, drug trafficking and extortion.

    His companion was identified as Joey dela Cruz, reportedly a member of the same syndicate operating in Pampanga.

    Candaba police chief Superintendent Henry Flores said the two were on board separate motorcycles which sped off after being flagged down by policemen at the local checkpoint.

    Local police teams on motorcycles and a patrol can chased and cornered them at Pansimao Village where the suspects allegedly fired at the lawmen.

    The cops fired back and shot the two dead.

    The victims were reported to be armed with a revolver and an improvised shotgun.
