MANILA, Philippines — As Philippine Airlines (PAL) marks 85 years of flying the Filipino spirit, the flag carrier is extending its anniversary celebration beyond the skies. Under its Share the Care Award Program, PAL is supporting 85 graduating scholars from the National Aviation Academy of the Philippines (NAAP), the country’s only national professional institution for aviation.
This initiative reflects PAL’s long‑standing commitment to education and nation-building, aligning its milestone anniversary with tangible travel and career assistance that helps aspiring aviation professionals bridge the gap between academic excellence and industry leadership.
The program’s heart is captured in PAL’s recently launched Care That Goes Further film, which honors the everyday dedication of PAL employees whose quiet acts of service embody “Filipino care in action.” In the same spirit, the airline is turning its 85th year into an opportunity to uplift the next generation of leaders who will keep the country’s aviation industry soaring.
“Marking our 85th year, we are focused on nurturing the talent that will shape the future of our skies,” said Atty. Carlos Luis Fernandez, PAL Executive Vice President / Chief Operating Officer. “By providing flight grants and career pathways through the PAL Foundation, we are helping them reach key milestones in their professional journeys.”
“This partnership with Philippine Airlines is a strong manifestation of the transformative power of industry and academe collaboration,” said Engr. Jeq Zyrius Sudweste, NAAP Vice President for Academic Affairs. “Through the Share the Care Award Program, both NAAP and PAL not only bridge education and industry practice, but also nurture a shared vision of excellence in aviation by providing our future aviation professionals with unprecedented access to the flag carrier’s expertise and network, ensuring that they become industry-ready and, more importantly, future-ready.”
The Share the Care Award Program is built on three primary pillars of support:
  • Flight Incentives: Each scholar receives a one-time award of 30,000 Mabuhay Miles to support travel for training, certification, or industry exposure.
  • The Priority Pipeline: Scholars are designated as “PAL Priority Candidates,” ensuring their profiles receive direct, streamlined review for relevant roles within the airline.
  • The Masterclass Series: Awardees gain exclusive access to mentorship sessions led by PAL’s operational leaders, covering fields from flight operations to aircraft maintenance.
The PAL-NAAP partnership marks a meaningful milestone in the airline’s 85-year history – transforming a celebration of the past into a lasting investment in the people and purpose that will define the future of Philippine aviation.
