CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The University of the Assumption conferred its “Lumen Humanitatis “award on His Eminence Pablo Virgilio Cardinal David in ceremonies held Feb. 12 at the university’s Our Lady Assumed into Heaven chapel.
The Lumen Humanitatis is the highest honor bestowed upon an individual, living or deceased, by the University of the Assumption. It recognizes the exemplary life of the awardee, embodying the spirit of “Light for Humanity” in imitation of Jesus Christ, the embodiment of the Light of the World.
Currently, Bishop of Kalookan and president of the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines, the honoree is a Kapampangan from Betis, Guagua, and also served as auxiliary bishop of San Fernando and parish priest of the Holy Rosary Church in Angeles City.
The tenth Filipino cardinal, David is the third recipient of the prestigious award. Previous recipients include the late President Corazon Aquino, who was awarded on April 8, 2010, and His Excellency, the Most Reverend Paciano B. Aniceto, D.D., who was awarded on November 6, 2014.
Among those who joined the eucharistic celebration and ceremonies were Archbishop of San Fernando Florentino G. Lavarias, incoming Bishop of Tarlac Roberto Mallari, retired Cubao Bishop Honesto Ongtioco, Archbishop Emeritus Paciano B. Aniceto, UA president Rev. Fr. Oliver Yalung, and Rev. Fr. Vic Nicdao.
