CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – They cried for joy. They clapped and shouted in rejoicing, in thanksgiving.
Thus wemotions exploded at the Capitol as Gov. Lilia “Baby” Pineda announced the P40,000 bonus each of the 2,050 regular and casual employees will receive before December 15. The governor made the announcement during the opening of the Aldo Ning Kapampangan week-long celebration at the capitol grounds on Monday.
“This bonus is not really for us workers but for our respective families. It’s indeed a fruitful holiday courtesy of the governor,” said a certain Beth who asked that his family name be not mentioned by Punto.
Beth did cry but clapped and danced after hearing the good news from the first-term governor.
First District Board Member Cris Garbo, chairman of the committee on appropriation, disclosed that they were able to determine the amount of the bonus through the Personal Savings and Maintenance and Operating Expenses (MOEE.)
“As requested by the governor, we must follow the guidelines in giving the bonus,” Garbo said. “Anything to boost the confidence and performance of the workers is welcomed by us.”
Vice Gov. Joseller “Yeng” Guiao said that the P20,000 bonus which then Gov. Eddie Panlilio failed to release last year was not part of the bonus this year.
“We have to forget and set aside the issue last year. This is the bonus for this year,” Guiao said.
Pineda, for her part, said “if in the past year, the employees were disappointed, this year their Christmas would truly be merry and happy.”
The Provincial Government said that those eligible to get the full P40,000 bonus are those who have been in office for four months as of November 30, 2010.
