CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Two students from Arayat Institute Inc. set to participate in the final round of the International Mathematical Olympiad in Bangkok, Thailand received on Monday moral support and financial assistance from Gov. Lilia “Nanay” Pineda.
Grade 9 student Michael Angelo Reyes, a member of the MANGO (Mathematics and Numbers Guild Organization), and Grade 11 STEM student Louise Jillian Mataga, qualified for the international competition after strong performances in earlier mathematics contests.
“The competition will provide a rare and meaningful opportunity for young Kapampangan talents to showcase their mathematical skills on the international stage, bringing honor and recognition to the province,” said Yvonne Irish C. Pangilinan, AII school directress.
According to her, the International Mathematical Olympiad will gather high-achieving students from different countries to solve challenging problems in algebra, geometry, number theory, and logic.
AII officials said the participation of Reyes and Mataga reflects the school’s commitment to STEM education and to exposing its students to international academic platforms, serving as inspiration to young Kapampangans to aim higher and take part in global academic events.
