CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The Pampanga provincial government will dredge 5,570 meters of the different creeks and streams around the Capitol area in its efforts to mitigate severe flooding in this capital city.

This, after undertaking a massive clearing of canals along the flood-prone Jose Abad Santos Avenue and Lazatin Blvd., both major thoroughfares.

Dennis “Delta” Pineda during an action-planning session on Monday, Jan. 13, with representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways, Megaworld Capital Town and the chairmen of the barangays contiguous to the Capitol.

The heavily-silted waterways to be dredged flow through barangays Magliman, San Juan, San Felipe, San Nicolas, and Del Pilar.

For the operations, Pineda said the province will deploy six backhoes, and allocate diesel funding while barangay leaders will assist in identifying spoil sites for excavated debris. Three pumping stations will also be installed in strategic areas along the waterways. Punto News Team/Pampanga PIO
