THE Provincial Government of Tarlac and the Local Government Unit of San Jose signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the Philippine Social Security System (SSS)-Tarlac Branch last October 2 at the Capitol Center’s Roof Deck, to cover Contract of Services (COS) and Job Order (JO) employees under the security system’s self-employed program.
Dubbed as the “KaSSSanga sa Coverage Program”, the agreement, signed by Governor Susan Yap, San Jose Mayor Romeo Capitulo and SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Rolando Macasaet is aimed to provide social security protection to the COS and JO workers of both the provincial government and San Jose LGU.
In Gov. Susan Yap’s message, she thanked Macasaet for the opportunity given to the COS and JO workers of the provincial government and San Jose saying it will greatly benefit the workers who have no security of tenures.
“This is the first time I believe that SSS has reached-out to the LGUs for the security of COS and JOs. Di naman po kaya ng gubyerno na ipasok lahat ng empleyado bilang permanente and this agreement will greatly benefit them,” the governor said.
For his part, Ledesma said that it is important for everyone to have a pension.
“Importanteng-importante po na may pension ang isang nag-retiro para ito ay may dumarating na buwanang kita para pambili ng kanyang pangangailangan. Sa pamamagitan po nito, ang ating mga COS at JO na empleyado ay may impok na para sa kanilang hinaharap,” Ledesma said adding that the SSS program for the COS and JOs is the first in the country.
“Inuna ko po ang Tarlac kasi tiga rito po ang aking asawa na kapatid nina Gov. Susan at Cong. Vic (former Governor and second district Congressman Victor Yap),” he furthered.
Witnessing the MOA signing were Tarlac SSS Branch Manager Maxima Macaraeg, SSS Vice President Vilma Agapito, SSS Senior Vice President Luzon Operations Group Antonio Agabioso, SSS Executive Vice President-Operations Sector Voltaire Agas, San Jose Vice Mayor Riza Joaquin, San Jose Councilor Emilio “Mico” Macasaet, Provincial Administrator Roberto Ventura and Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Officer and concurrent acting Provincial Resource and Management Officer.
Others in attendance were Board Member Joy Gilbert Lamorena, Provincial Government department heads and other SSS, PGT and San Jose LGU officials and employees.—PIO
